Andre Dwayne Russell is a Jamaican cricketer. Russell plays for the Jamaica national cricket team as well as the West Indies in Test cricket. A fast bowling all rounder, Russell made his Test cricket debut against Sri Lanka in November 2010.
In the season 2010 he played at Barnards Green CC, Worcestershire, England, helping them secure promotion into Birmigham League cricket. Andre Russell took 39 wickets at an average of 10.15. Andre Russell also lead the averages with his batting hitting 799 runs in 11 innings at an average of 99.88 (3 NO's).
Andre Russell made his ODI debut in the 2011 Cricket World Cup match against Ireland at Mohali. Andre Russell scored only 3, and was bowled by John Mooney, as his side went through a lower order collapsse to be bowled out for 275 from 267/6. However, he impressed with the ball taking 1/37 from his 10 overs (2 maidens) and had bowled set Ed Joyce (84 of 106)(and break a 91-run partnership with Gary Wilson) to halt the fluent Irish run-chase. This proved to be the turning-point and West Indies won by 44 runs. Andre Russell also took 2/46 against India in the 2011 Cricket World Cup at Chennai.
After a poor home series against Pakistan, he made his mark against in the ODI-series against India. After being dropped from the first two ODI's, he scored 92 not out of 64 balls (8 fours, 5 sixes) coming to the crease at 96/7 in the 3rd ODI at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound. Andre Russell had a 78-run patnership with keeper Carlton Baugh(36 of 73 balls) and then an unbeaten 51-run patnership with Kemar Roach(7 not out from 10) to help West Indies reach 225/8. Andre Russell took 1/59 (the wicket of Harbhajan Singh(41 of 64 balls)), effected the run-out of S_Badrinath and took a catch at backward point to dismiss Parthiv Patel(46 of 56 balls). Despite his all-round efforts, India won with 22 balls to spare. In the 4th ODI played also at North Sound, he scored 25 from just 14 balls (3 fours, 1 six), and with the ball had figures of 3/16 (from 7 overs, wickets of S_Badrinath, Ravichandran Ashwin and Praveen Kumar) to dismiss India for 146, as the visitors lost by 103 runs. In the 5th ODI at Sabina Park in Kingston he became the Man of the Match as he took 4/35 (from 8.3 overs) to dismiss India for 251 in 47.1 overs.
